Happy Memorial Weekend! I am off for some fun in the Arizona sun! I get to see my super awesome and one of the bestest friends ever, Katie! And my amazingly beautiful Grandma! I can’t wait! I won’t be running while I’m there, but I will be getting in lots of swimming. Super triathlon swim-training! Oh and sun bathing too 🙂

Starting this trip off with a yummy mimosa!

Here is the conversation I had with myself after work today:

“I really should go for a run.”

“Nah…I’m tired.”

“Ugh, really I should. I know I will regret it if I don’t.”

“But I have a headache.”

“Running will make my headache go away.”

“It’s raining.”

“But, I have run in worse/colder weather.”

“I have so many chores and things to get done. I don’t want to have to be up until midnight to get them done.”

“I haven’t run in 3 days.”

“But that bottle of wine is calling my name.”

“Remember those shorts that are too tight?? It’s because you spent all winter talking yourself out of running.”

“Just get dressed. Then you will HAVE to go.”

“OK. I’m dressed. Still don’t want to run.”

“Your shoes are already tied. Hurry and get out the door before you change your mind.”

“Woo-Hoo! Made it out the door!!”

So, after all of this I am super glad that I got out for a run today. I got in a decent 4 miles then came home and was really able to enjoy the glass of wine without any guilt.

**Side note- The shorts I chose to wear were super uncomfortable. I had completely forgotten that from the last time I wore them. Was that TMI? I just don’t want to forget this little tidbit.

Just in case you are needing a little motivation today, here are some of my faves:

Broken Pieces

Last week I wrote about the coffee mug swap I joined and the awesome mug Hannah sent me. Click here to re-read that post. And just look at that beautiful mug…

Here’s what it looks like now…

so sad 😦

My roommate’s 4-year-old daughter accidentally knocked it off the counter. Poor kiddo thought I would be mad because she knew how excited I was about my new mug. I’m not mad, just sad.

Thank you Hannah, my mug and I had a good run there for a couple of weeks. These are the hazards of living with little ones.

Drink & Dash for Mr. John

Our friend and running buddy, Mr John is leaving for a long deployment this week. So to celebrate all the great running fun we’ve had over the last year+ we planned a Hash-inspired run. In other words, you  drink then run then drink some more.

We started off with shots of citrus vodka and Gatorade…a delicious combo!

Four of us set out for a 4 (probably more) mile trail run…

Next was a quick stop for Margaritas, then we were off again…

We picked up some more runners/bikers/stroller riders!

Another stop. This time for Mai Tais! And John had to play horseshoes…each time he didn’t make a ringer, he drank a shot of Jager!

On our way to the next house for sweet tea vodka, lemonade and cookies!

Last but not least, a stop for “Jungle Juice” Or at least I think that’s what Erica called it…

It was a great day filled with fun, friends and so many laughs!

We will miss you Mr. John! Be safe and we will see you soon!

Coffee Mug Swap

Last month I entered a Coffee Mug Swap over on Susan’s Blog, Suzels Says. I sent her my name, address and blog site and she paired me up with another blogger.

We had to read each others’ blogs and send each other a coffee mug. I was paired up with Hannah. Her blog, Blissfully Blessed is super cute. She writes a lot about her time in nursing school and about her friends and family. Is it weird that I feel like I know her?? Also–Happy 21st Birthday Hannah!!!

On to the mug swap….I forgot to take a pic of the mug(s) I sent to Hannah, but just jump on over to her blog and check it out. She got a great pic!

Here is the mug she sent me…

Love It!!

And how did she know that I take a travel mug to work every day?!?!

My new mug @ work

The funny things is, the mugs I sent to her were also polka dot! Great minds think alike!!

Well hello, Friday. Thank you for showing up once again!

Here are my 5 faves from the week. I’ll be linking up with Lauren, so you can head on over and check out her site along with everyone else who High-Fives!

1. I watched a great chick-flick last night. It really is a tear jerker, but so worth it.  If you have ever been in a long-distance relationship, you need to rent this movie now!

2. I get to go out to lunch with my lovely sister today. What a great way to celebrate Friday!

3. I finally got around to painting some candlesticks I’ve had for a while. The best part… total cost of the project was about $7, including the candlesticks!  They were originally an ugly brownish-bronze color:

They are now (thanks to a can of spray paint) a fun aqua-blue color!

4. I participated in a mug swap over on Suzan’s blog. I received my mug yesterday, and it is AMAZING! Love it!! I will share pics soon, as it really does deserve it’s own post. Thanks Hannah!!

5. Tomorrow is Cinco De Drinko! Mayo! I plan on celebrating with a long run, relaxation, many margaritas and good friends! Ole!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

How do you fix a grumpy, rainy, woke-up-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-bed, had to work overtime, big meany grouch day?

Well….I really, really wanted to just come home after work and curl up with a big glass of wine. Instead, I forced myself to go for a run. 1. Because I needed to, and 2. because I knew if i didn’t I would feel even worse.

I went out intending for 6 miles and ended up running 8, walking 1 (at the end). Whew! I feel so much better!

After a hot shower, I indulged in a romantic, girly movie, new nail polish and wine.

These things will turn your bad day into a great day!

*Be on the lookout  for a future post about those candlesticks 🙂
